We all know that in order to be healthy, we must eat well and get plenty of exercise. Yet hardly anyone does it!

We all know that in order to be healthy, we must eat well and get plenty of exercise. Yet hardly anyone does it!

61% of the U.S. population is overweight. On top of that disease and illness are more prevalent than at any other time in history. More people are on more prescription medicines than ever before. Even children are being diagnosed with diseases they didn't even get thirty years ago.

The problem is that people are not putting themselves first. They are going to the mall or watching TV instead of exercising, they are putting their cars first (most people's cars are in better shape than their own bodies), and they line up everyday at the drive thru to get fatter.

When asked why they aren't healthy all of these people would say one of three things:
* I don't have time
* Being healthy is too expensive
* We are going to die anyway so what does it matter

For one, we all have the same 24 hours in a day "its what we do with them that counts." Spend time on yourself first (exercising, stretching, meditating etc.) right when you get up in the morning.

That way the day is already a success before you have even left for work. Then you can spend the rest of the day doing whatever you want or have to do.

Yes, organic food is more expensive than a lot of the junk you can get in the aisles at the grocery store, but isn't your health too important to nickel and dime?

Spend your money on healthy food first then spend the rest how you want to. You will probably find that the money gap can be easily closed by buying less material things you don't need and spending that money on yourself and your well-being.

And for the last excuse listed above that people use as to why they aren't healthy I can' help them. To me, being given life is something to honor and be grateful for, not take advantage of.

When you are in good physical shape and eating a healthy diet you feel more alive than you ever could otherwise. Your life feels like it is filled with passion and purpose, stress is easily handled, and most importantly you feel good about yourself.

I don't know about you, but I am here to live the best life I can. I know that in order to do that I need to always put my health, fitness, and well-being above anything else.

When you put yourself and your health first, everything else in life becomes more enjoyable. This is simply because you feel good and are able to more easily handle life's adversities.
